Exhibition “Glorifier of the Don Steppes” in Taganrog
08.10.2015The exhibition “Glorifier of the Don Steppes” dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the great writer will be presented on November, 2, in Taganrog. It is a joint project of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov and the Taganrog Museum of Art to mark the Year of Literature.
The exhibition will display personal belongings of M.A.Sholokhov, canvases of the Don painters and Cossack household articles.
In the works by M.A.Sholokhov each blade of grass reflects a powerful force of the world’s life; his personages find a great vitality as a result of each moment feeling and revealing this force, this charm of the world around.
The Don painter S.Gavrilyachenko, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, professor of the Moscow State V.I.Surikov Academic Art Institute, whose paintings are shown at the exhibition, felt Sholokhov’s personages deeply, saw himself among them and endowed them with his own features. The painting of the artist reminds of Cossack melodies, songs and legends. He shows Cossack customs, harsh military service and hostilities.
The exhibition will run from November, 2, to December, 13, 2015, in the Taganrog Museum of Art, 56, Alexandrovskaya Str.
