A Holiday in Sholokhov-Centre for the Children of Stella-Bank Workers

02.10.2015

A holiday devoted to the beginning of the school year for the children of Stella-Bank workers was held in Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov in Rostov-on-Don. Stella-Bank has been organizing this holiday for the children of its employees for 10 years annually.

The holiday program began with attending the unique exhibition “Traces of Cossack Old Times…”, which displays the monuments of culture of the XVIII–XX centuries from the State Hermitage collection. The exhibition is made up of paintings, drawings, sculptures, decorative applied art, books, armaments and military equipment.

Nataliya Kazinskaya, Head of the exhibition and education department of Sholokhov-Centre underlined that it was a joint project of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov and the State Hermitage, which in the year of the 110th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov and in the Year of Literature in Russia opened the exhibition activity of Sholokhov-Centre.

The children and their parents with sincere interest examined the relics of the Russian Cossacks, which came from the Neva banks to the Don, the homeland of the great writer, having left for the first time the stores of the main museum of Russia and the major museum of the world.

The guide showed the exhibition and answered many questions. Both the children and adults wanted to learn more about the culture, life and traditions of the Cossacks. During the interactive class “A Horseless Cossack is an Orphan” the children made a horse of bast and then they played a role of “a real Cossack” trying to lasso a wooden horse.

The holiday ended with a tea party to remember the “flavoured delicious accent of the fabulous evening”.

“There are lots of things connected with the name of Mikhail Sholokhov in the Don country, – said Serghey Teplyakov, Director of Stella-Bank. – In the year of the 110th anniversary of the great writer and the Year of Literature in Russia, Stella-Bank couldn’t get past these events and organized for excellent students an interesting and impressive learning of the Don history and culture just in Sholokhov-Centre. Thanks a lot to the workers of Sholokhov-Centre for this great opportunity.”
