Karghin Fair Waits for Guests!

The preparations for the holiday “Karghin Fair on Pokrov Days”, which is going to be held on October, 11, are coming to completion. The holiday will take place in the farmstead of T.A.Karghin, one of the sites of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov in Stanitsa Karghinskaya the Bokovsky District.

The vintage store signs, coloured flags, a bright tent of the carousel make a festive atmosphere.

The guests will find a lot of interesting entertainment: merry fair shopping, riding on a swing and carousel, which were restored according to the drawings of the last century, master-classes of the craftsmen, games and competitions for children, tasting dishes of traditional Cossack cuisine and lotteries.

The holiday program also includes strongmen competitions, circus performances, horse riding and pleasure boating on the Chir River. The guests can tour about the roller mill depicted by M.A.Sholokhov in the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”, attend the exhibition of vintage oil lamps and take a picture in the photo studio of the early XX century.

The guests will be shown a theatrical performance “How Kruzhilin Villagers Travelled to Karghin Fair…” and a ceremony of awarding the winners in the contest of the best Cossack house and grounds in Stanitsa Karghinskaya.
