The Exhibition “Don.Sholokhov.Russia” Is Opened in the Millerovo Local History Museum

On August, 20, an exhibition “Don.Sholokhov.Russia” from the collection of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve was opened in the Millerovo Museum of Local History.

The opening ceremony was joined by R.A.Topolskov, Chairman of the Millerovo District Deputy Council; V.N.Vitkalov, Deputy Head of the Millerovo District Administration; T.M.Makarenko, Chairman of the local department of the “Yedinaya Rossiya” Party; members of the Millerovo District Veterans Council, school teachers and students of Millerovo, representatives of mass media, organizations, institutions and enterprises, and the town residents.

Welcoming the public G.M.Lyubchenko, Director of the Museum, V.N.Vitkalov and R.A.Topolskov told the guests of the exhibition about the visits of M.A.Sholokhov to Millerovo and meetings of the residents with the great writer.

In the first tour about the exhibition the visitors learned about the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov, publication of his books, about his public activity, meetings with the countrymen, workers of culture and scientists.

The exhibition displays books by M.A.Sholokhov published in different years in foreign languages and the research works of Sholokhov scholars.

After the exhibition tour the guests exchanged their impressions. The old men shared their memories and attitude to the works by M.A.Sholokhov. The young people viewed the photographs and planned their visit to Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya and the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

 

The exhibition will run until September, 30, 2015.
