We Invite Masters for “Karghin Fair on Pokrov Day”

Masters of the artistic trades and traditional crafts have a unique opportunity to show their works at the literary and ethnographic festival, which will be held on October, 11, in Stanitsa Karghinskaya. 

Terms and Conditions of the Exhibition of Traditional Crafts

 “Crafts Fair” 

The exhibition “Crafts Fair” is held at the literary and ethnographic festival “Karghin Fair on Pokrov Day” at the “Farmstead of Timofey Karghin”. 

Place and Time: The Rostov Region, Bokovsky District, Stanitsa Karghinskaya, October, 11, 2015. 

Goals and Objectives:

- development of folk artistic trades and traditional crafts of the peoples of       the southern regions of Russia;
- demonstration of production and manufacturing technology of the articles of traditional crafts;
- improving creative collaboration, expansion of cultural ties between masters of arts and crafts;
- exchange of creative intentions, ideas and development of joint projects. 

Exhibition Participants:

Masters of folk crafts and trades, creative workshops, handicraft clubs, centres of traditional cultures, teachers and students of special educational institutions and universities. We also invite enterprises and organizations manufacturing articles of folk art. 

Main Topics:

-  patterned weaving, knitting, wickerworking;
-  pottery and ceramics;
-  straw and bast articles; 
-  artistic casting, forging;
-  wood carving, stone carving;
-  articles of felt, leather, fur;
-  the traditional doll;
-  other traditional folk crafts. 

Terms of Participation:

For participation in the exhibition you must fill in an application form enclosing 2 photographs of the articles (the photo size not exceeding 2mb) and send it to the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov before October, 1, 2015.

The Fair organizers reserve the right for artistic selection of the submitted applications.

The participation in the exhibition is free.

In addition to the exhibition and sale of the finished articles all the artists demonstrate  the manufacturing technology of articles or hold master-classes on traditional craft.

Wearing traditional folk costumes is encouraged for the artists participating in the exhibition and fair.

The conditions of accommodation in the museum territory are to be negotiated individually.

For the non-resident members, the service for hotel reservation is provided.
