Rostov Students Visiting Sholokhov Museum

03.07.2015

From June, 27, to July, 1, a visiting summer educational practice “Vyoshki-2015” for the students of Rostov school 118 took place in the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

With great interest the Rostov students attended the Museum sites, opened for themselves new pages in the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov, learned about the sights of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. The students visited Stanitsa Karghinskaya, where the writer spent his childhood and youth, the shooting sites of the new screen version of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” in Stanitsa Yelanskaya; at the Museum Stables they learned about the role of a horse in the life of Cossacks. The students were brightly impressed by the water environmental itinerary to Lake Glinka; there they learned more about the flora and water world of the forest lake and the Don River.

The Museum researchers gave consultations for the young scholars on the subjects: “They Fought for Their Country”, “The History of Cossack Song”, “The Nature in the Novel «And Quiet Flows the Don»”, “The Architecture of the Upper Don”. The children visited master-classes in the Children Museum Centre and an interactive class “From the Notes of Princess Fike” based on the exhibition “Catherine II. The Path to the Throne” from the collection of the State Historical Museum, held a plein air “A Palette of Colours”.

The results of the summer educational practice “Vyoshki-2015”were summed up at the conference, where the children presented their creative works on the books of M.A.Sholokhov and on household culture of the Upper Don Cossacks. A school teacher N.N.Zubkova recited her poetry “Light and Colour” written during the summer practice in the homeland of M.A.Sholokhov.
