18.06.2015

A meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Federation Presidential Council for Cossack Affairs took place on June, 16, in the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, in the building of the literary and historical exhibition “M.A.Sholokhov.Time and Destiny”.

The main point of the agenda was realization of the development strategy of the Russian Federation State policy towards the Cossacks till 2020. The work with the youth was paid a particular attention.

The meeting was joined by A.D.Beglov, Chairman of the Russian Federation Presidential Council for Cossack Affairs and Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Central Federal District; V.Y.Golubev, the Rostov Region Governor; Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk; Bishop Simon of Shakhti and Millerovo, and chieftains of all the 11 Cossack Army societies of Russia.

It wasn’t the first time when the Cossacks of the whole country gathered in the Literary Museum: in the year of the 100th anniversary of Sholokhov there was a meeting with the President of Russia V.V.Putin, who underlined in his speech, that M.A.Sholokhov was the first to tell the whole world about the Cossacks and to become a keeper of the national culture and traditions of Cossacks.

A.M.Sholokhov, Director of the Museum, made for the guests an excursion about the writer’s Estate and other Museum sites.

Also, the Museum exhibitions were attended by the members of the II All-Russian Rally of Cossack youth “Ready for Labour and Defence”, which was held on those days in the homeland of the great writer. More than 250 Don, Kuban, Orenburg, Terek, Siberian and Ussuri Cossacks during the three days discussed urgent problems of the youth Cossack movement, demonstrated their mastery and physical capabilities at the stadium of Vyoshenskaya and took part in the reconstruction of battles of the Great Patriotic War near Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

Among the awards to the best members of the Rally there was a novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov.
