The Land of Yesenin Opens an Exhibition of Sholokhov Museum

The exhibition “…Pray for Your Children, Quiet Don!” was opened on June, 5, in the exhibition hall of the State S.A.Yesenin Museum-Reserve in Konstantinovo Village the Ryazan Region.

Greeting the public Boris Ioganson, Director of the Museum-Reserve, noted that the two literary museum-reserves were connected by long-standing partnership. M.A.Sholokhov took the most active part in establishing the museum in the homeland of Sergey Yesenin and promoted publishing his works. This year the museum celebrates its 50th anniversary and the 120th anniversary of the great poet.

The opening ceremony was attended by Nataliya Grishina, Secretary of the Ryazan Region Public Chamber, Director of Gorky Library, Tatiyana Solovyova, Director of the Regional Museum of the Youth Movement History, Alexander Solovyov, professor of the Ryazan State S.A.Yesenin University.

The song and instrumental ensemble “Radunitsa” of the Museum-Reserve of S.A.Yesenin under direction of Alexander Yermakov entertained the guests.

The first visitors viewed with interest the exhibition displaying more than 160 exhibits from the collection of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov: photographs, letters, medals and badges of the First World War, military outfit, ammunition, armaments, painting and graphic works of the famous artists, postcards and popular prints with pictures of Don Cossacks and their feats of arms.

The exhibition will run in Konstantinovo until July, 22, 2015.

 

Valery Yemeliyanov
