A.M.Sholokhov is Awarded the Order of Honour

A.M.Sholokhov, Director of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, is awarded the Order of Honour for his merits in the development of national culture and art, and for long fruitful work on preservation of the Russian cultural heritage.

It is symbolic that the highest award is handed in in the Year of Culture and before the Year of Literature, which will celebrate the 110th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov.

The awarding ceremony took place on December, 12, in Rostov-on-Don. The Rostov Region Governor, V.Y. Golubev, stressed: “The representatives of different professions, whose work has gained the highest appreciation by the State and society, have gathered here. The high awards in the Year of Culture go to a number of representatives of the Don cultural community. This room, as never before, is full of those who can be rightfully called heroes. Alexander Mikhailovich Sholokhov devoted over 20 years of his life to the development and establishment of the museum business. Only for the past 5 years, over 80 exhibitions of success and high demand have had a run under his supervision. The achievements of the Museum staff headed by him are highly appreciated: the Museum-Reserve is included in the State Code of the Most Valuable Objects of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia”.

One of the prizemen is T.Y.Turchin, Deputy Director of the Museum-Reserve. He is awarded a medal of the Order “For Merits for the Fatherland” of the II degree for his personal contribution into preservation of natural, cultural and memorial heritage of the Don country and popularization of life and work of M.A.Sholokhov.

L.A.Surkova, editor of the “Don-TR” teleradio company, the author of a number of talented TV shows and documentary films about the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov, was awarded the honorary title of “Honoured Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation”.
