NewsLatest Additions to the Museum Collection04.12.201419 works by the artist A.Bogdanov have become a part of the collection of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. These works were successfully displayed in the Excursion-Exhibition Centre “People’s House” at the exhibition “Going by the Path of Sholokhov Personages”. Alexey Petrovich Bogdanov, an artist and designer, is well-known in Russia and in foreign countries. In 2009, travelling about the sites connected with the name of M.A.Sholokhov he made a series of works. The pictures made in watercolours, Indian ink and pastel precisely reflect the country outgoing with its abandoned dilapidated Cossack kurens (houses), traditional architecture of dwellings and churches (“Sacred Spring”, “Church of St.Nicholas the Wonderworker”, “A House by the Zimovnaya River”, “Sufferings of the Don Land” and others). The artist reveals professionally, constructively and concisely the beauty of everyday objects in a person’s life (“Samovar”, “Hogshead”, ”Domestic Utensils”, “A Boat”). Each work is a portrait of the recent time with its features, colouring, rhythm and mood. Here one can feel an invisible presence of the artist, his concern about the earth and its creations, his love and empathy to the present and the past outgoing now to history. The pictures by A.Bogdanov is another page in the Don history. These works have undoubtedly enriched the Museum-Reserve collection and will further complement the exhibition.
