Her Majesty Fashion

It was a real travelling into the wonderful world of fashion. The children learned that fashion has many faces: it can be unpredictable and variable thanks to a human inventive activity. Fashion is regulated and directed by style. And it is necessary to be able of distinguishing between classic, romantic, sports and other main styles of clothes.

During the video presentation the students determined the styles of a costume, a dress, and what distinguishes one style from another (in silhouette, colour, texture of fabric, etc.) and what accessories can be complemented for the occasion. After studying the theory the young designers enthusiastically developed model sketches of the dress “Garmoshka” (Accordion) and then made one of its elements, a skirt. The children were especially pleased with collective weaving mats of coloured ribbons.

We think the museum classes will help the children to find their style and gain their confidence. As Coco Shanel said, “Fashion passes, style remains.”
