At the Seminar of the Literary Museum Directors

25.09.2014

M.A.Sholokhov, Director of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, took part in the XXX jubilee session of the N.Shakhalova Creative Problem Seminar of the Literary Museum Directors which took place on September, 20 – 24, in the Kostroma Region, in the State Memorial and Natural Museum-Reserve of A.N.Ostrovsky “Shchelykovo”.

The leaders of the well-known federal and regional literary museums discussed different questions including prospects of the museum activities and publication of the encyclopedia of the literary museums of Russia.

The International Museum Forum is annually held under the auspices of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) at the UNESCO and is a Russian section of its literary committee (ICLM). The seminars are held from 1984, and the first forum took place just in Shchelykovo. For 30 years of the forum existence its geography has covered the whole country: it was held in Ulyanovsk, Samara, Kaliningrad, Pyatigorsk and the Kostroma Region, which hosted the seminar in 1997 as well.

The Forum members are sure that the XXX session of the Creative Problem Seminar of the Literary Museum Directors of Russia will give a new impetus for the prospect work for the hosts and guests. A.M.Sholokhov noted that such meetings produce new exhibition projects: “I am sure that this time it will be so. We have already discussed our joint museum project with the Pushkin museums.”

The members of the Seminar learned about the literary and historical heritage of the region of Kostroma, shared their experience and identified the ways to effective solution of the most significant challenges that literary museums and the museum community of Russia as a whole face today.
