News“Rus of Songs, Rus of Craftsmen”05.08.2014The museum workers of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took part in the XI All-Russian festival of folklore, arts and crafts “Rus of Songs, Rus of Craftsmen”, which was held on August, 1-3, in the Vorobiyov District the Voronezh Region, and gathered masters and folk groups from numerous regions of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Serbia and Slovakia. The main action took place in the Lomov natural landscape park on the bank of the scenic pond. In that unique place the arts and crafts, and master-classes were demonstrated. The guests of the holiday tried to practise blacksmithing, wood carving, pottery, embroidery, basket weaving and even learned to play the harmonica. Each master tried to work wonder by his talent and original flavour. The symbol of the holiday was an old mill. Next to it there was a stage, where the folk groups performed their songs and dances. A big gala concert was shown from the main stage on the pond water surface. It was followed by a bright holiday fireworks. The Vorobiyov country embraced the enthusiastic people, skillful craftsmen and keepers of national traditions. The festival is a good example of succession of generations and desire for interest revival for the song and ritual folk art and traditional crafts.
