Visiting Sholokhov Country
07.05.2014On May, 4 – 7, the Don country was visited by A.S.Teryokhin, Head of the Department for RF Presidential Adviser on Culture and of the Presidential Council on Culture and Art.
The guests visited memorial and natural sites of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. A trip in a horse-drawn carriage to the “Giant Oak”, a natural monument, and to Lebyazhy Yar enabled the visitors to enjoy vast expanses of the Don steppes, blooming orchards, floodplain forests and the sight of the old Cossack river.
The guests were highly impressed by the large-scale reconstruction works on the mill complex in Stanitsa Karghinskaya. In Kruzhilin Village the guests had a traditional Cossack dinner praised even by discerning palate.
Alexander Sergheyevich expressed his gratitude for the Museum for careful and cherishing attitude to the creative heritage of the great writer and preserving the memory of the great countryman.
