News“Steed is the Dearest for Cossack”27.03.2014On April, 12, the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve will hold a holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack”, where everyone can learn to deal with horses and become aware of their importance in Cossack life. Horse in the history of mankind takes a special place. Before the XX century it was the main transport and military means; it was of utmost importance in agricultural development. For Cossacks the horse was a help in everyday life and an integral part of the military art. The holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack” will take place at the Museum-Reserve Stables, where 14 horses and a pony are kept. The guests will see stallion Dizain and mare Klassika, representatives of the unique Don horse breed brought out during 250 years of popular selection. The breed proves to be agile, maneuvering and undemanding. The performance will take the viewers back to the early XX century. The juice of the theatrical performance based on the works of M.A.Sholokhov will be a meeting of Cossacks of the Setrakov summer camps. The visitors will be shown: inspection of a horse, rubdown, saddling, shoeing and lunging. A special attraction will be a show of fancy riding, lance and sword wielding and Cossack fighting techniques. The festival will hear Cossack folk songs performed by folk song groups. The guests will have a ride in carriages, on horseback and on pony, take pictures and take part in master-classes and competitions. Viktor Boldyrev |
