NewsDays of Sholokhov in Orenburg19.03.2014On March, 14, the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts opened an exhibition “Book Graphics on the Works by M.A.Sholokhov”. It is a joint project of the two museums within the frames of “2014 is the Year of Culture” and a return visit of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov to the Orenburg colleagues, who presented their exhibition “Orenburg Downy Shawl” in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. The exhibition from the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov showing unique illustrations to the works by the great Russian writer aroused a great interest in the people of Orenburg. The opening ceremony was joined by Viktor Alexandrovich Shorikov, the Minister of Culture and Foreign Relations of the Orenburg Region, representatives of the Orenburg regional public organization of writers of the “Russian Union of Writers” and students. The speakers noted a big historical connection between the Don and Ural Cossacks, a similarity of Cossack fates described in the works by M.A.Sholokhov. The exhibited works of the well-known artists and illustrators Orest Vereisky, Yury Rebrov, Viktor Galdyayev, Nikolay Usachov, Vladimir Baklanov, Valentina Petrova, Leonid Petrov and Kukryniksy show a variety of creative search and solution. Each of the illustrators has a unique style of drawing, and the brilliantly depicted episodes from “And Quiet Flows the Don”, “Virgin Soil Upturned”, “The Tales from the Don”, “The Fate of a Man”, “They Fought for Their Country” bring the viewers to the bright and passionate world of Sholokhov’s personages and enable them of new understanding of his works.
