Sholokhov’s Personages Visiting Orenburg

An exhibition “Book Graphics on the Works of M.A.Sholokhov” will open on March, 14, in the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts.

This project will be a return visit of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov to Orenburg museum-workers who presented their exhibition “Orenburg Downy Shawl” in the Excursion and Exhibition Centre “The People’s House” in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

The work of M.A.Sholokhov was reflected in different genres of art. The personages of the “And Quiet Flows the Don”, “Virgin Soil Upturned”, “The Fate of a Man”, “They Fought for Their Country” and “The Tales from the Don” were shown on stage, in films and paintings.

The fruitful work of the prominent artists – O.Vereisky, Y.Rebrov, Kukryniksy, V.Galdyayev,V.Baklanov, N.Usachov – is closely connected with the art of Sholokhov. Their works will be exhibited in Orenburg. Each artist took it as a great honour to embody the unique, deep and truly national Sholokhov’s images in graphics, tried to show the character of the personages and deepen the understanding of the work of M.A.Sholokhov.

We hope that the exhibition “Book Graphics on the Works of M.A.Sholokhov” will help the visitors of the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts to learn a lot more about the everyday life and labour of the Upper Don Cossacks, to feel the charm and grandeur of the endless expanses of the steppes and the eternal leisurely flow of the Father Don.
