The Holiday in Karghin School

03.02.2014

The 50th anniversary of opening the new building of the school bearing the name of M.A.Sholokhov was celebrated in Stanitsa Karghinskaya on February,1.

The people of Karghinskaya are proud of the fact that the great writer lived and worked in their place. Here he spent his childhood and youth, went to parish school and started his writing career. He always felt warm and loving about his village and countrymen.

The celebration of the school, for which the writer had donated his Lenin Prize, was joined by teachers, school veterans, graduates of different years, schoolchildren, district residents and guests of honour.

Within the 50 years, 1235 students got secondary education including 25 Gold Medal graduates and 54 Silver Medal ones. Now all they live in different parts of the country and work in numerous professional fields.

The audience warmly greeted A.M.Sholokhov, Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, who congratulated on the holiday all the guests and handed his present.

The former students remembered the days of constructing the school, their help, shared their memories about the unforgettable meetings with M.A.Sholokhov.

The 50th school-leavers of 2014 prepared a letter to the students of 2064, the 100th graduates of the school.

The guests heard a living word of Sholokhov– an abstract from the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov performed by the 11th grade student and enjoyed a concert by folk song and dance groups.

The holiday ended in a joyful, colourful and bright festivity.
