NewsThe Memory is Alive Through Years24.02.2014The 30th Memory day of M.A.Sholokhov was marked in the home country of the great writer. From the morning the residents of Vyoshenskaya and admirers from different places went to his tomb to lay flowers and pay tribute to the great son of the Don country. An evening party “Your Sholokhov” was held in the Vyoshenskaya Palace of Culture. Corresponding with the writers, answering the voters’ requests as the deputy, appealing to various departments for protection of his countrymen’s interests the writer often signed his letters as “Your Sholokhov”. Mikhail Alexandrovich left behind a huge epistolary heritage. He tried to answer every letter and help everyone who asked him. The leaders of the evening party narrated about the national writer, who helped a great deal to the native country, the people sometimes unfamiliar to him. Letters and telegrams came to Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya from all parts of the large country. Sholokhov was known and remembered by all those who met and wrote to him to be sensitive and responsive to the grief of others. A.M.Sholokhov, Director of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, the grandson of the writer, said to the audience: “30 years… Dates grow bigger and greater. Now we feel regret to have failed asking about something or learn something, touching to the man. On such days this feeling of ours is very acute. In my memory Sholokhov remains the most radiant and sparkling person. He could inspire optimism in anyone. Let’s not be sad today, because we have lived through for these 30 years “with” Sholokhov, but not “without” him. The stanitsa lives and develops, thousands of people come here. And this was contributed to by Mikhail Alexandrovich and our work. Let us pay a heartfelt and kind tribute to the memory of the great man and the great writer. Our thoughts can be sad, but our actions should be worthy of his memory”. The concert was joined by the folk ensemble “Volnitsa” of the Rostov Regional House of Folk Art and folk groups from the Rostov region. The performance included fragments from “The Quiet Don” by M.A.Sholokhov and Cossack songs mentioned in the novel. The public appreciated the priceless treasure of our culture, the heritage to be handed down to the future generations and the enormous contribution our great countryman has made into preservation of Cossack folklore. M.A.Sholokhov died 30 years ago, but the memory of him is alive. The lines of Sholokhov’s immortal works, his grand contribution into development of the Don region, his love for the Country remain with us. Alexey Kochetov |
