The Exhibition “The Don. Sholokhov. Russia” is Opened in Madrid

The exhibition “The Don. Sholokhov. Russia” is opened in the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Madrid on January, 23.

The Exhibition tells about the life and work of the writer, the history and culture of the Don Cossacks and the nature of the Don Region. It is a unique opportunity for the visitors to see photos of the great Russian writer in different years, the books published in Russia and abroad, illustrations to Sholokhov’s works and to appreciate his contribution to world culture. One of the exhibition sections tells about the activity of Sholokhov Museum in preservation of the writer’s heritage.

At the exhibition opening ceremony, Alexander Sholokhov, Director of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, underlined in his welcome address a similarity of the tragic fates of the Russian and Spanish peoples, who have gone through the crucible of civil wars.

The first visitors of the exhibition were representatives of the Spanish public, Russian compatriots and language students of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture.
