Sholokhov Museum is Awarded the Prize “Alexander Nevsky”

On December, 5, 2013, on the eve of the 750th anniversary of Saint Alexander Nevsky Repose Day, in Saint-Petersburg there was held a ceremony of awarding the all-Russian historical and literary prize “Alexander Nevsky”. The First Prize Honorary Diploma and a golden sculpture of Alexander Nevsky made by sculptor E.Mkhoyan were handed to Alexander Sholokhov, director of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve for the project “Open Air Novel”.

This year the contest joined more than 200 literary works and 90 museum projects. The project of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov was recognized the best at the museum contest. Also, many other awards were gained by the projects of the Museum-Reserve “Gatchina” (the Leningrad Region), the directorate of “War and Historical Museums”(Bulgaria, Pleven), the Sergiyev-Posad State Historical and Artistic Museum-Reserve (the Moscow region), the State Memorial Historical, Artistic and Natural Museum-Reserve of V.D. Polenov (the Tula Region), the State War and Historical Museum-Reserve “Prokhorovskoye Pole” (The Belgorod Region), the museum of D.D.Shostakovich secondary school 235 (St.Petersburg) and others.

The First Prize of the literary contest was won by Vladimir Bondarenko, the author of the book “Lermontov: A Mystical Genius”. Special prizes were given to the authors of the works about historic figures who made a great contribution into the development of the Russian State and to the compatriots, whose lives set an example of a noble service to the Country: to V.M.Lobov, A.M.Volovik Archimandrite Alexiy, Abbot Innokentiy, E.N.Boyarskaya and others.

Speaking to the winners the Chairman of the Russian Union of Writers, Valery Ganichev, called the books and projects of the nominants “an amazing picture of our historic and spiritual culture”. Alexander Ebralidze, General Director of the Public Limited Company “Talion” underlined that most of the people are enthusiasts, and he especially focused on the museum sphere: “They are adherents of their business, that is why all they are outstanding people, who create a piece of art for the young generation.”
