The Museum for Elderly People
07.10.2013According to the UN General Assembly Resolution of December, 14, 1990, a campaign on drawing attention to the problems of elderly people takes place annually, on October, 1.
On the International Day of Elderly People the workers of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve visited the social and rehabilitation centre for elderly people in Kolundayev Village, the Sholokhov District, and performed a concert prepared by the workers of the Museum department of mass activities. On October, 4, the elderly people, who devoted all their lives to work for the benefit of the Upper Don residents, to bringing up children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, were honoured in the banquet hall of the Excursion and Exhibition centre “The People’s House”. The concert was joined by the children folk group “Zorenka” of the Museum-Reserve and the dance group “Mozaika” of the Vyoshenskaya art school. The guests of the Museum participated in the quiz and musical contests, sang songs of their youth. Taisiya Ivanovna Kalinina recited her poetry and Andrey Shchebunyaev performed Neapolitan and Russian songs. The concert leaders created a warm and sincere atmosphere; at the end of the concert they expressed their best wishes to the veterans.
