For the Memory of Mikhail Mikhailovich Sholokhov

On October, 21, 2013, Mikhail Mikhailovich Sholokhov, our colleague and teacher, a cultured, talented, bright and kind man, passed away.

Mikhail Mikhailovich Sholokhov was born on May, 23, 1935, in Moscow. In 1960, he graduated with honours from the biological faculty of the Moscow M.Lomonosov University, worked in the Nature Conservation Committee of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow. In 1972, he completed his postgraduate course of the historical and philosophical faculty of the Rostov State University. He was a Philosophy Candidate, a docent. He taught philosophy at the Rostov State University, worked as head of the Rostov branch of the Moscow legal education faculty of the USSR Academy of the Ministry of Home Affairs. In 1992, he retired with the rank of colonel. From 1999, he worked as chief consultant of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

Mikhail Mikhailovich was the first ataman of the Union of Cossacks of the Voysko Donskoye Region, was elected member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation President. The Moscow M.A.Sholokhov Humanitarian University elected him honorary professor. He made an invaluable contribution to the preservation of the cultural and spiritual heritage of Russia.

Mikhail Mikhailovich Sholokhov was highly respected by all who knew him, worked and came into contact with him. His friends and colleagues appreciated his diverse education, modesty and a hearty attitude to the people.

The collective body of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve grieves at the death of Mikhail Mikhailovich Sholokhov, a wonderful man, the son of the great writer, the son of the Quiet Don and Russian land, and expresses the deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
