The Museum Took Part in the Science Festival of South Russia

On September, 28-29, in Rostov-on-Don, the IV Science Festival of the South of Russia took place at the “VertolExpo” exhibition centre. It was organized by the South Federal University with the support of the Ministry of Education and Sciences of the Russian Federation. It was joined by the universities of the Rostov and Astrakhan regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, and the North Caucasian republics. The students and young scholars demonstrated the latest achievements in biology, electronics, pedagogics, civil engineering and many other fields.

The exhibitions were presented by the museums of the Rostov Region: Regional Museum of Local Study, the Azov Museum-Reserve, the Razdory Ethnographic Museum, the Archaeological Museum-Reserve “Tanais”, the Gukovo Museum of Miners’Labour and many others.

The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve was presented by the exhibition devoted to its publishing activity. There were exposed books, catalogues, booklets, guidebooks and some of their electronic versions published by the Museum. A big plasma screen continuously displayed videoclips about different areas of the museum work.

The central exhibit was “Sholokhov Encyclopaedia” prepared with participation of the Museum-Reserve workers, issued half a year ago. This massive 1200 page work was published by the Moscow Publishing House “Sinergia”. At a designated time, at the main information ground of the festival, the Museum workers held a presentation of the Encyclopaedia which was joined by the co-authors – N.I.Stopchenko, Culturology Doctor and professor of the South Federal University, T.O.Osipova and N.A.Kisel, Philology Candidates, docents of the South Federal University.

The presentation was followed by a quiz for the audience of the event on the knowledge of the biography and artistic heritage of M.A.Sholokhov. The winners were awarded copies of “Sholokhov Encyclopaedia”, books and booklets published by the Museum-Reserve.

The pavillion of the Museum was visited by numerous festival participants, lovers of literature and Sholokhov’s talent. The exhibition was visited by M.A.Borovskaya, Rector of the South Federal University and Chairman of the Board of Rectors of South Russia.

The Museum-Reserve was awarded a Letter of Gratitude.
