The Forest of People’s Friendship is Added with New Saplings

On October, 10, the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve held an action “Live, Forest!” in the forest site reflecting the geography of the children and youth ecological movement “Sholokhov Source”. This time the personal planting contribution was made by the young ecologists of Andropovskaya and Vyoshenskaya schools of the Sholokhov District on the plots allocated for the Rostov Region.

Near the young trees of the People’s Friendship Park laid this spring on the Arbor Day, the children together with the museum workers planted over 200 new saplings of trees and bushes (pines of Crimea, the main tree species of the park, aspen, alder, amorpha shrub, Caspian willow). The children practised planting trees, tried to work with the “Kolesov’s Sword” invented 130 years ago specially for planting pines on sandy soils.

The action was joined by the heads of the Museum departments, of the Sholokhov District Administration, forest workers and scientists.

Also, young trees were planted on the plots allocated for the Tambov and Voronezh regions, Krasnodar Territory, Daghestan and Georgia.
