Preparing for the Writer’s Anniversary

The 110^th anniversary of Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov dates on May, 24, 2015.

Reconstruction and overhaul of the Museum sites is one of the main tasks in preparation for this event. The Department of preservation and restoration of memorials has developed a plan of activities for 2014–2015 financed from the federal budget. The plan outlines:

- A completion of the reconstruction works at the cultural heritage site “The House of Martyn Brothers” in Rostov-on-Don. Since 2009, the Museum has carried out a large range of activities. The building will house the Exhibition Centre of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

- A comprehensive repair and restoration work on the central estate of the writer in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, 94, Podtyolkov Street.

- A large amount of restoration works come to an end on the mill farmstead in Stanitsa Karghinskaya. To complete them it is necessary to make a reconstruction of the cinema “Ideal”, a “barn with a shed” and the site improvement.

- In Kruzhilin Village, at the Memorial Estate, a reconstruction of the barn is planned.

Besides, the outline plan includes a development of the construction documents for carrying out the restoration works at the Museum memorials of history and culture.

The Museum is going to perform all the envisaged works to meet adequately the 110^th anniversary of M.A.Sholokhov.
