NewsA new Museum Catalogue08.08.2013The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov continues publishing the most interesting collections: in July, the second part of the catalogue “Book Collection of M.A.Sholokhov. The Books with Autographs”, which presents 86 books with autographs of the well-known poets, writers, workers of science and art, was issued. The catalogue will be of interest both for specialists and a wide public who are interested in the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov. According to the author of the catalogue, a scientific worker of the Museum, Galina Govorukhina, autographs significantly extend and expand our understanding of Sholokhov as a man, literary artist, public figure, get to know him through the attitude of the people, who presented him their books. Here are just a few examples of the autographs. The poetess Antonina Bayeva: “Dear Mikhail Alexandrovich! I will be glad if my poetry tells your soul something about the vast steppes of Kazakhstan”. The writer Yury Bondarev: “To Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov with a great love for the golden word of “The Quiet Don”, the best book of the XX century, the height of which has never been reached by anyone. The theatre and film actor Dmitry Orlov: “To Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov. In memory of the long creative friendship that sounds and lives forever!” The journalist and writer Yefim Permitin: “To Mikhail Sholokhov – the elder, the most beloved brother. With the everlasting brotherly love, amazement and admiration.” Reading autographs one can realize how wide was the circle of people who cherished the fellowship with the great writer, valued his word and support. The first part of the catalogue was published in 2009. It presented 34 books with autographs of the famous people. The originator and author of the scholarly commentary is Lyudmila Cheplyanskaya, a senior scientific worker, who deceased in 2010. Sholokhov’s book collection kept in the Museum totals about 3 thousand volumes including 450 books with autographs. The work on their study and further publication is going on. Olga Bakhtiyarova |
