NewsThe Artists’ Gift to the Museum12.07.2013Two works of the well-known Don artists, illustrators of the works by M.A.Sholokhov, were added to the Museum-Reserve collection before its next anniversary of foundation. The South Department of the Russian Ministry of Culture presented the Museum with the works by A.G.Mosin, Honoured Artist of Russia (a portrait of M.A.Sholokhov and by V.M.Baklanov, a graphic artist (“The Father and an Officer”). In the 1970-s, Anatoly Gerasimovich Mosin illustrated the novel “The Quiet Don” and the early stories by M.A.Sholokhov. As well, the graphic portrait of the writer was a success. Vladimir Mikhailovich Baklanov made illustrations to “Virgin Soil Upturned”, to the chapters of the novel “They Fought for Their Country”, the story “A Hard Road of Life”. His work “The Father and an Officer” clearly shows one of the episodes of this particular story. For the Museum workers such a gift is hard to overestimate, as it is closely connected with the life and work of the writer. Alexey Kochetov |
