NewsTo the Museum for Getting Knowledge06.06.2013This was the motto of the International Museum Festival “Intermuseum-2013” held in May, 31–June, 4, in Moscow, in the Central House of Artists. The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took an active part in the festival. According to the main subject “Museum is an Educational Resource of the Society” the “Intermuseum” became a unique platform for exchanging experience and ideas, displaying the most interesting programs for different age categories. The program included defence of projects, presentations of electronic and printed publications, interactive activities for children, master-classes, discussions and round table talks. The organizers invited museum professionals from the USA, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Croatia, Japan and other countries to join the forum. At the opening ceremony, the RF Minister of Culture, Vladimir Medinsky, congratulated the guests on the opening of the new “Intermuseum”. He underlined that “new” meant the choice for the first time of one theme, but very important, for the “Intermuseum” to discuss: the interaction of museums and education. The museum is the most powerful educational resource; it is the place, where one can teach and which teaches”. Modern education can’t be imagined without an active participation of museums. That is why the Ministry of Culture invited the Ministry of Education as a partner for increasingly more effective interaction of these ministries and museum workers from year to year. This year the festival was joined by 260 museums. Major state museums, small provincial museums and “enclosed” departmental museums displayed their exhibitions. The museum-workers from the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took part in the discussion on the subjects: “Museum and School: Towards Integration”, “Educational Programs and Technologies for Teachers, Parents and Museum Professionals”, “Museum. Innovation Educational Technologies. Creativity”, “Test of Ideas”, “Multimedia Technologies for Little and School Children”, “Import and Export of Cultural Values” and others, visited interactive exhibitions “In-and-About Reading” and “What is Sculpture”, master-classes and lessons for children given by the leading museums of Russia, studied the children’s “Intermuseum” guide, learned to know about the development of special programs for different audiences. Our Museum stand exposed the projects for schoolchildren “The Memory of the War has United Us” and “Children and Youth Environmental Movement “Sholokhov Source”, which aroused interest among the colleagues. The event with its festive and business atmosphere gave us interesting and useful meetings, a good boost of energy and an impetus to new ideas and projects. The knowledge and experience gained will certainly help us in the daily work of the Museum.
