Serghei Yesenin, an Acquaintance of Yours

23.04.2013

The Excursion and Exhibition Centre “The People’s House” of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve continues showing the collections of the best museums of Russia. A ceremony of opening a new exhibition “Serghei Yesenin, an Acquaintance of Yours” from the State S.A.Yesenin Museum-Reserve (Konstantinovo Village, the Ryazan Region) was held on April, 19.

The exhibition tells about the life and work of Yesenin, displays unique exhibits: manuscripts, personal belongings (a box, cufflinks and so on), documents of his school years, a death mask of the poet and many other things.

A particular section shows a collection of peasant clothes including a shushun mentioned by the poet in his poems, a costume of Anna Sneghina from the play repeatedly staged at the museum of S.Yesenin.

The memorial part of the exhibition includes the first complete works of the poet of 1926.

A series of enlarged colourful photographs and household items tell about the parental house of Yesenin where the interior of the 1920-s, the time of the poets’s frequent visiting Konstantinovo, was scrupulously reconstructed, about the manor of L.I.Kashina, whom Serghei Yesenin dedicated his poem “Anna Sneghina”. He embodied the appearance and moral character of this beautiful woman in the image of the heroine.

There are interesting graphic works and paintings by S.Yakushevsky (the People’s Artist of the RSFSR, from 1950, he lived and worked in Ryazan), who depicted the poet’s favourite nooks of nature, which inspired him for his poetry, graphic works by S.Yepifanov, who illustrated the poet’s works.

Dear residents and guests of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, you are welcome at the exhibition which will run till June, 23, 2013.
