NewsTo Attract Visitors to the Museum15.03.2013Various activities, new sections added to the main exposition, modern technologies providing wide opportunities in the study and dissemination of Sholokhov’s heritage are used to attract visitors of different age to the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. Original design, exhibit installation, multimedia information systems enable the visitors to learn more about the Museum collection, navigate in the system of displays, exhibitions, memorial places and get a complete picture of the life and work of the writer. The most interesting documents are displayed at the historical and literary exposition “M.A.Sholokhov. The Time and Destiny”, which was opened on the 100th anniversary of the writer. The latest literary investigations, archival materials recently available enable us to understand the world significance of the art heritage of the Nobel Prize winner, appreciate his grandeur and simplicity. Besides the exhibits displayed, there are special multimedia programs for visitors to view the collection virtually. The interactive computer presentations on the topics “The Don Stories”, “The Quiet Don”, “Virgin Soil Upturned”, “They Fought for Their Country”, “The Fate of a Man”, “Social Activity”, “Foreign Trips of M.A.Sholokhov”, “Documents and People” give an opportunity to listen to audio, watch video clips and fragments of the films after the works of M.A.Sholokhov. The total volume of presentations is 1.6 GB on 830 pages including 107 video clips and 20 audio inclusions, 1800 documents, photographs, maps, schemes, house ware, illustrations for the books, texts from the writer’s works. A plasma panel displays artistic photos of the Museum structures, expositions, natural memorials, fragments of the All-Russian literary folklore festival “Sholokhov Spring”. A computer version of the program “Visualization of the Cultural Landscapes of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve” made by the Russian D.S. Likhachov Research Institute of Natural Heritage (Moscow) displays a combination of memorial and literary landscapes. This territory is marked on the map of the world (Google), and the coordinates of the points to shoot area panoramas described in the novel “The Quiet Don” by M.A.Sholokhov are up to 15 m per a pixel (GPS navigator). The temporary exhibition ”Sholokhov is a Singer of the Don Nature” held in the People’s House provided the visitors with the visualization program using a touch kiosk, with the information permanently available in the main exposition “M.A.Sholokhov. The Time and Destiny”. The work on the use of multimedia technologies and elements of interactivity for the visitors in the Museum expositions is going on. In Stanitsa Karghinskaya, where M.A.Sholokhov spent his childhood, youth and began his literary career, a mill of Timofey Karghin is under reconstruction and a baker’s being built; the old mill houses are going to be used for expositions; the cinema “Ideal” will be used for theatrical performances and concerts. Using new sections in the main expositions is expected to develop various forms of the cultural and educational activity of the Museum and to increase the rate of visiting. Marina Debur |
