“Sholokhov Readings-2012“ are Over

In Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, on September, 6, “Sholokhov Readings”on the theme “Modern Studies in the Art of M.A.Sholokhov: Problems, Conceptions, Approaches were over.

During the two-day plenary session 24 speakers gave their talks. The high level of the presented works was noted by the conference leaders – the scientific adviser of the project “Sholokhov Encyclopaedia”, Philology Doctor Y.A.Dvoryashin, and Director of the State M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve A.M.Sholokhov.

Most of the speakers are Ph.D. in philology, culturology, pedagogics. All the talks aroused interest proved by the questions which followed sometimes changing into stormy debates.

A special attention was drawn by the talks “M.A.Sholokhov and Russian Literature” (D.V.Pol, the Institute of the Artistic Education of the Russian Academy of Education, Moscow), “Cultural-Historical Archetype in Sholokhov’s Works” (E.A.Kostin, International Baltic Academy, Lithuania), ”Freedom of the Will” in the System of Motives in the Works of  Sholokhov” (A.A. Dyrdin, the Uliyanovsk State Technical University), “A Mass Media Concept in the Structure of the “Quiet Don” (A.N.Semyonov, the Institute of Education Development, Khanty-Mansi  Autonomous Area, Yugra) and others.

The workers of the State M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve also presented various reports – “Book Collection of M.A.Sholokhov” (L.P.Razogreyeva), “Problems of Maintaining the Autenticity of the Performing Style and Song Folklore of the Upper Don Cossacks” (S.I.Gribanov), “Free Cossack Movement: Ideology, Program, Practice” (A.N.Gavrilov), “Collections of Works by the Artist S.G.Korolkov” (V.V.Leonova).

On the final day of the conference a round-table talk “Sholokhov Encyclopaedia and Prospect Studies of the Literary Topography” took place. There was an interesting talk about the final stage of completing the fundamental work, which would present the most complete set of documentary materials about M.A.Sholokhov. The Encyclopaedia is going to be published late this year.

The round-table talk was joined by E.A.Bessmertnykh, General Director of the publishing house “Synergy”,Executive Director of the fund “Sholokhov Encyclopaedia”; G.N.Vorontsova, a senior scientific worker of the Institute of the World literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences; T.O.Osipova, a lecturer of the South Federal University; O.I.Bakhtiyarova, the head of the information department of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, A.N.Gavrilov, a scientific worker of the State M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, a postgraduate of the South Federal University, and others.

The work of the conference, round-table talk was summed up by Y.A.Dvoryashin. He noted a high level of the scientific discussion, its thematic variety, assessed the key aspects, problems and ways of development of modern Sholokhov studies.
