NewsA Trip Around the World from Vyoshenskaya23.08.2012The State M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve realizes its good tradition to expose collections of the best Russian museums to the locals and visitors of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya: an exhibition “A Trip Around the World” laid out by the Museum of the World Ocean from Kaliningrad has been open since August, 6, 2012, in the Excursion and Exhibition Centre “The People’s House”. The presentation of the exhibition was of “ marine” character: in the theatrical performance “Unmoor!” the young sailor girls from the dance group “Pearls of the Don” invited the audience to unknown distant countries. In the exhibition halls the visitors learned many interesting things about the sea circumnavigation expeditions of the XIX century, about the world’s largest research vessel “Vityaz”, about the current trips of the training barque “Krusenshtern”, saw maps of sea travels, a model of a sloop of the Russian world expeditions, navigation equipment and ethnographic objects. There are unique “treasures” of the sea depth: shells of marine molluscs, samples of geological rocks from the ocean floor and coasts (including amber samples), stuffed marine fish and sub-Antarctic penguin, as well as scientific drawings of the members of the expeditions and graphics of the marine painter E.V.Voishvillo. The exposition tells about the history and activities of the Museum of the World Ocean, the pride of which is the country’s only Quay of Historic Fleet beginning in Kaliningrad to continue in Saint-Petersburg, which includes vessels of the naval, scientific, space, icebreaking and fishing fleets. At the berth of the Museum there is moored a legendary research ship-Museum “Vityaz”, submarine-Museum afloat “Б-413”, research ship “Cosmonaut Viktor Patsayev” – the world’s only active ship of space communications hosting the Museum exposition, and fishing vessel-Museum CPT-129. One of the world’s oldest icebreakers – the icebreaker “Krasin” is moored on the Neva in Saint-Petersburg. Presenting its unique collecltion in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya the Museum of the World Ocean invites the residents and visitors of the stanitsa to make a fascinating “Journey Around the World”. The exhibition will work till October, 15, 2012. Valery Emeliyanov |
