Visiting Kulikovo Pole and Yasnaya Polyana for Experience

The workers of the State M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve made their trip on August, 9 - 12, to the Historical Military and Natural Museum “Kulikovo Pole” and Memorial and Natural Reserve “Museum Estate of L.N.Tolstoy “Yasnaya Polyana”. The purpose of the trip was to study the experience of mass events.

In the museum of “Kulikovo Pole” we visited a honey fair in a county town of Epifan. This year the Epifan Fair “On the Don We are Staying! The Don We are Glorifying!” has turned 10. The director of the fair shared his experience in holding the bright spectacle which the museum-workers annually perform on the eve of Honey Spas. We got acquainted with Epifan, a keeper of local traditions, tasted the honey of 2012 from the apiaries of Tula, Orlov, Voronezh and Krasnodar, had tea, visited master-classes on blacksmithing, pottery and making toys.

We had excursions about Krasny Kholm and in the village of Monastyrshchina, where the Russian warriors fought against the Tatar-Mongol horde.

We were brightly impressed with the house and estate of L.N.Tolstoy in Yasnaya Polyana, with the railway station “Kozlova Zaseka”, where from the writer started for his business and leisure trips. We have learned an experience in holding interactive tours and took part in one of them wearing dresses of the time of Leo Tolstoy.

We will use the experience acquired in the interaction with our colleagues in holding Museum holidays, particularly, Karghin Fair, which is going to take place this October.
