Doctor’s Meetings with Sholokhov

“My Talks with the Writer” is the title of a remembrance essay by a resident of Vyoshenskaya, which was published in the almanac “Moskovsky Parnas”.

Vladimir  Trofimovich  Karnoushenko, born in the Kursk Region, Ph D of medical sciences, the highest category doctor. He came to Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya in 1962, worked as Chief Physician in the hospital of Vyoshenskaya and was a physician of M.A. Sholokhov.

Vladimir Trofimovich had met with Mikhail Sholokhov for many years, and in his memoirs he shares his impressions about the meetings and talks with the writer. For instance, he writes about his first meeting with the writer: “He was in good mood and the talk went easily, in a joking manner…All my internal tension disappeared, and some moments later we talked like old friends”. The reader sees Mikhail Alexandrovich to be a person for whom kindness and sympathy is a feature. The essay is an easy and very interesting reading.

For the publication of “My Talks with the Writer” V.T. Karnoushenko was awarded the title of a Laureate of the Valentin Pikul Prize.
