Presentation of Works by Young Learners of Sholokhov

19.07.2012

Fifteen years ago the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve started collaboration with the Rostov school “Evrika-Razvitiye”. One of the trends of the joint activity was a historical-literary expedition “Vyoshki”. This year one of the features was a presentation of editions prepared by the young learners of Sholokhov’s works.

The presentation took place at the conference held by the pupils of “Evrika-Razvitiye”. The young learners presented their talks about the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov, books: “M.A.Sholokhov: the World Without Borders” and “Face to Face”, comprising the articles by teachers and pupils of the school. All the research projects are characterized by a search for the way to understanding the ideas, words and works of M.A. Sholokhov.

The books were presented to the Museum. L.A. Akolzina, Academic Secretary of the Museum-Reserve, thanked the children, noted their creative approach in their research work and wished the young learners to go on studying the boundless world of Sholokhov.

During their educational practice at the Museum the children learned a lot of new things on the subjects of their research: “Everyday Culture of the Upper Don Cossacks”, “Private Correspondence of M.A. Sholokhov”,”Ecological System of the River Don”, “Sholokhov and Shukshin”, “The History of Creation of the Story “The Fate of a Man” by M.A.Sholokhov”.

In the Museum class “Treasures of the Ancient Burial Mounds” in the Excursion-Exhibition Centre “The People’s House” the young researchers learned about the unique things found during the archaeological excavations on the territory of the Rostov Region, learned much interesting about Sarmatian nomads, who lived (IV century B.C. – V century A.D.) in the Don region.

At the Stable of the Museum-Reserve the children took part in washing and cleaning horses, doing about the yard, preparing a walking carriage, and in the craft workshops they made ceramic dishes and painted plates and spoons.

The children went sightseeing about Vyoshenskaya, Kruzhilin Village, a home country of M.A. Sholokhov, Kalininsky Village, where shooting of the film “The Quiet Don” took place, and  had a pleasure boating along the River Don.
