Museum Activity for Susat Schoolchildren

The Youth Program Department of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve holds visiting museum classes for schoolchildren of the Rostov region. One of the museum classes “The Don Cossack Song” was held for primary schoolchildren of the Susat secondary school of the Semikarakor District.

The Susat secondary school has a status of a Cossack educational institution. A particular attention is paid here to developing in the children spirituality, morals, compassion and respect for the culture of our and other peoples of Russia.

In the museum class the children learned about genres of the Don Cossack song, about a great number of songs dedicated to the River Don, which Cossacks honoured as a cradle of Cossacks, spiritual support, source of life.

The schoolchildren enjoyed a video presentation telling about the beauty of feather-grass and tulip steppes and listened to Cossack songs. And everyone wanted to visit the vast steppes of the Sholokhov District, to breathe fresh air and enjoy flowering herbs.

Before the classes the children learned about the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov, about the Don musical folklore, learned to sing Cossack songs. So, the classes were informative and interesting.

Now the Susat schoolchildren look forward to meeting again with the museum workers of the Youth Program Department.
