Sholokhov Museum Opened Pages of the “Open Air Novel” in Beijing

19.06.2012

The State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve for the first time took part in the International tourist exhibition “Beijing International Tourism Expo-2012”, which was held in Beijing on June, 15-17, the Year of Russian Tourism in China.

The works of M.A. Sholokhov are very popular in China not only among the older generation, but also among young people. We saw it during the forum.

Before the official opening of the exhibition “BITE-2012”, a non-profit partnership “Borderless World” held a presentation joined by the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, in the Russian Cultural Centre. Nearly 70 representatives of Chinese companies, tourist and business organizations and structures, mass media, gathered in the hall. Representatives of Moscow, Krasnodar, Khabarovsk, Sakhalin regions, the Chechen Republic, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area and other regions of Russia took the opportunity to present their tourism product. According to the Chinese side as well as to the Russian delegation, the presentation of the Museum-Reserve of M.A. Sholokhov was one of the most interesting.

On June, 15, an opening ceremony of the “BITE-2012” exhibition took place. The Russian stand attracted much attention. The State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve was also popular: print and video presentation materials in Chinese and in English evoked much interest and were almost snapped up by visitors, which confirms the interest for the art of M.A. Sholokhov, the history of the Don Cossacks and the nature of the Don.

Chairman of the “Borderless World” organization, Ivan Vvedensky, noted  in his talk with Director of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, Alexander Sholokhov, that the Rostov Region is yet  poorly represented in the Chinese tourist market and expressed his willingness to help in every way in promoting the “Open Air Novel” in  China to attract Chinese tourists to the Quiet Don country. An offer for the Museum-Reserve to take part in the International tourist exhibition in Shanghai in November, 2012, became the first step in the mutually advantageous cooperation. This action completes the events dedicated to the Year of Russian Tourism in China.
