Svetlana Sholokhova is the Winner of the Big Literary Prize of Russia

The laureates of the Big Literary Prize of Russia-2011 established by the Writers’ Union of Russia and “Alros” company, were announced this December for the twelfth time.

Earlier this prize was conferred on such men of letters as Dmitri Balashov, Mikhail Alexeyev, Viktor Likhonosov, Vladimir Karpov and others.

Svetlana Mikhailovna Sholokhova, a literary and textual critic, and Alexander Fyodorovich Struchkov, a writer and publisher, were awarded the first prize this year for preparation and publication of the author’s version of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A. Sholokhov (a book collection of V.S. Chernomyrdin). It was a reward for the great and important work of several years.

Besides, the second and the third prizes were designated, as well as a special prize “For the Welfare of Russia”, which a writer Valentin Grigoriyevich Rasputin and the chief art director of the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre, the USSR people’s actress Tatiyana Vasiliyevna Doronina, were awarded.

Besides the founders, the International Sholokhov Committee and the Russian State Library took a share in the organization of the Prize investiture ceremony.
