Early in December, 1961, the All-Union Radio broadcasted a two-hour radioproduction of the novel by M.A. Sholokhov “Virgin Soil Upturned” (scripted by V. Grishayev).

The radio performance was listened to with great interest by the whole great country, the Soviet Union. The Upper Don radio listeners were especially impressed. Again Sholokhov captivated his country fellows with his great truth of the eyewitness writer.

The performance was directed by Igor Iliyinskiy. The cast was composed of the actors from the Mossovet Theatre, Mayakovskiy Theatre, Maly Theatre.
