The Children Visit the Museum of Sholokhov

Late in September the Museum-Reserve of M.A. Sholokhov was visited by the children of the pre-school preparatory groups of the Vyoshenskiy Children’s Development Centre. The excursion was a continuation of the Museum club “The Pre-School Children Learn about the Don Country”.

A class “Hello, Museum!” was given for the children in the Children’s Museum Centre. They learned about museum objects, their keeping in the museum holding and exhibiting, about scientific workers and museum expeditions, about excursions, exhibitions, expositions and guides.

Then the children learned about the peculiarities of the museum work, about different museums of the world, saw photographs, learned about the museums of the well-known people (scientists, writers, artists).

The children learned about Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov, visited the house, where the writer lived and worked in 1928-1935, listened to the story about the life of the Sholokhovs family, about the writer’s work over his novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”.

The children saw the writer’s working-desk, books from his collection, old photographs, in the sitting-room of the Sholokhovs’  house they for the first time listened to a gramophone and records of the early XX century.

In the Guest-Book the children and teachers of the Vyoshenskiy Children’s Development Centre wrote: “Thank you for the excursion. We liked it very much!!!”
