A Seminar of Museum Directors in Kaliningrad

01.08.2011

The XXVII session of the N.V. Shakhalova creative problem seminar of the literary museum directors of Russia “Co-operation of Literary Museums with Other Profile Museums” was held in Kaliningrad on July, 25-28, organized on the base of the World Ocean Museum. It was joined by the director of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve A.M. Sholokhov.

The seminar was focused on discussing general problems of the museums – their future and effective work with the visitors, designing welcome programs for public, setting up the intermuseum layouts, consolidation of contacts with the local public and cultural museum centres of Russia, with the leaders of regional and local organs of culture and literary representatives.

The forum participants learned to know about the working experience of the Kaliningrad museums, viewed the Cathedral Church and its unique organ on Kant Island, a submarine in the World Ocean Museum, a legendary scientific ship “Vityaz”, visited a ship parade rehearsal in Baltiysk, took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition from the Central Naval Museum holding “Emperor’s and Official Yachts”, which had come from Saint-Petersburg the day before.

The creative problem seminar of the literary museum directors of Russia is a Russian session of the ICOM Literary Committee – the UNESCO International Museum Community. The seminar was founded on the initiative of the State Literary Museum. For 22 years its work had been guided by the Museum director, the Honoured worker of the RF culture, Nataliya Vladimirovna Shakhalova. In 2007 a resolution was carried to confer a name of N. Shakhalova upon the seminar.
