NewsA Holiday in Stanitsa Bukanovskaya20.06.2011The State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took part in the ecological and area-study holiday “The Khopyor Daybreaks of Mikhail Sholokhov”, which was held on June, 18, in Stanitsa Bukanovskaya the Kumylzhenskiy District the Volgograd Region. The guests of the holiday got attracted with the Museum exhibition devoted to the life and work of the great writer, to the Don Cossack history, to the Upper Don nature, which was laid out in the stanitsa?s House of Culture. The visitors learned about the history and development prospects of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, about the reconstruction process of the mill in Stanitsa Karghinskaya and of the “House of Martyn Brothers” in Rostov-on-Don, about the prospects of broadening the Museum service spectrum. At the holiday opening ceremony the speakers noted, that the two stanitsas – Vyoshenskaya and Bukanovskaya, which were very important in the life and work of M.A. Sholokhov, drew closer together both geographically and spiritually. The authorities of the Ecological Committee of the Volgograd Region Administration and the State Institution “Nizhnekhopyorskiy Natural Park” thanked the museum-workers of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve “for active participation in the regional ecological and area-study holiday of “Khopyor Daybreaks of Mikhail Sholokhov” and expressed their hope for further co-operation in spreading the work of the great writer. The residents and guests put flowers to the memorial sign put up on the place of the former Pokrov Church, where in 1924 Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov and Mariya Petrovna Gromoslavskaya, the daughter of the late stanitsa?s ataman, got wedded. A big holiday concert joined by the folk groups from Mikhailovka, Kumylzhenskiy, Alexeyev and Nekhayev districts the Volgograd Region was held in the stanitsa?s square.
