NewsThe Museum Collects Analogues of Books of Sholokhov’s Pre-War Library30.03.2011The workers of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve are active in search of analogues of the books of the 1920-1930-s from the library of M.A. Sholokhov, which was lost during the Great Patriotic war in bombardment of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. The books and a part of the writer’s archives, which, by some miracle, were spared by the bombardment of the Sholokhovs’ house in 1942, were evacuated, but their traces were lost under the conditions of the hard war time. The writer’s book collection, according to the list made by his daughter, Svetlana Mikhailovna, numbered nearly 200 authors: those were books of works gifted by A.A. Akhmatova, A.S. Serafimovich, F.I. Panfyorov and other home and foreign editions. Last year the Museum managed to acquire 51 books of the same editions as those in the library of M.A. Sholokhov. There are some of them: - Baratynskiy E.A. Complete works. – S. Petersburg: Imperial Academy of Sciences. 1914-1915; - Beranger Pier Jean. Complete song works in 2 volumes. M.-L.: ACADEMIA, 1936; - Zhukovskiy V.A. Complete works in 12 volumes (2 books). S. Petersburg: Edition of A.F. Marks, 1902. - Didro Deni. About Art. Vol. 1-2. L.M.; Iskusstvo, 1936; - A Book of a Thousand and One Nights. Vol. 1-8. L.: ACADEMIA, 1932-1936, 1939; - Homer. Odyssey. Poems. M.-L.: ACADEMIA, 1935; - Fet A.A. Complete works. Vol. 1-3. S. Petersburg: Edition of A.F. Marks, 1901. - Brem. Life of Animals. Vol. 1-3. S. Petersburg: Prosveshchenie, 1903-1904; - Krylov I.A. Fables. Complete works. S. Petersburg. Edition of A.S. Suvorin, 1896. - Lermontov M.Y. Complete works. Vol. 1-5. M.-L.: ACADEMIA, 1936-1937; - Ghertsen A.I. The Past and Thoughts. Vol. 1-3. M.-L.: ACADEMIA, 1932; - Heine H. Complete works in 12 volumes. M. Khudozhestvennaya Literatura, 1935-1938. The search is going on. We hope to collect all the analogues of books of the pre-war library of M.A. Sholokhov. Svetlana Diyachenko |
