Looking Through the Dossier of Colonel Sholokhov

On Friday, May, 21, at the Vyoshenskiy Palace of Culture there was held a solemn session dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the writer. It was opened by the folk group “The Orthodox Don” from Stanitsa Bokovskaya with a song devoted to the native Sholokhov’s places, and, according to the tradition, the schoolchildren of Vyoshenskaya presented the members of the family of Mikhail Aleksandrovich Sholokhov with small bunches of lilies-of-the valley.
The audience was welcomed by S.I. Vasiliyeva, the Rostov Region Minister of Culture. She greeted the audience for the holiday and said, that everyone, who comes to Vyoshenskaya in spring, would like to inhale the love for the Motherland which Sholokhov kept all his life through.
O.N. Delnov, the head of the Sholokhov District, said, that the countrymen will improve Sholokhov’s district with their deeds, and the guests of the stanitsa on these days will get to know the native land of the Nobel Prize winner, the well-known writer.
We celebrate the 105th anniversary in the year of the 65th jubilee of the Great Victory, so the tenor of the session was the theme of the Great Patriotic war, which Sholokhov, a war correspondent to the Soviet Informbureau, to the newspapers “Pravda” and “Krasnaya Zvezda”, went through. Joined with the actors of the Rostov Academic Gorkiy Drama Theatre Kristina Gavryukova, Serghey Galkin and Serghey Popovich the viewers “paged” “the Dossier of Colonol Sholokhov of 1941-1945”.
From the first days of the war M.A. Sholokhov, not in word, but in deed, fought for the victory over the hateful enemy. He was at different war fronts, personally experienced a trench soldiers’ life. He contributed his State Prize for the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” to the USSR Defence Fund, and then, for his own substance he bought four new rocket launchers.
The governor adviser of the West-Kazakhstan Region, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a close friend of M.A. Sholokhov, B. Zh. Zhumagaliyev once said in his speech: “Sholokhov was a patriot. Now we forget the word “patriot”, but it is a good word, obliging everyone to defend his Motherland. I would call Sholokhov for his great contribution “a patriot of a square degree”. He volunteered for the front, fought in the forefront of the battle for a high spirit in soldiers. Sholokhov was a fearless warrior. I wish to the residents of Vyoshenskaya to make the Don Sholokhov land ever glorified”.
B. Zh. Zhumagaliyev congratulated the writer’s son Mikhail Mikhailovich for his 75th anniversary and handed him a thanksgiving card of the governor of the West-Kazakhstan Region.
President of the National Invaacademy of Arts and Social Rehabilitation, professor N.N. Galkin told the audience about the Sholokhovs family’s recommendation to him of a young artist from Stanitsa Bazkovskaya Dmitriy Kochetov. Now he is a graduate of the Krasnodar State University of Fine Arts, he gives his diploma work, the picture “Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya” to the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. The Museum director A.M. Sholokhov was thankful to take the present and said, he looked forward to having Dmitriy Kochetov’s works exhibited in the “People’s House” of the Museum-Reserve.
In the concert favourite songs of M.A. Sholokhov were performed by the group “Volnitsa”. The concert was also joined by the group “The Orthodox Don” (the leader is the Honoured Worker of Culture of the RF G. Vechorkin), the dance group of the Kalmykian House of People’s Art “Dzhangar” (the leader is V. Badmayev), the group from Kazakhstan “Nezerke” (the leader is A. Kurbetova), the group from the Northern Osetiya Republic – Alaniya “Bonvarnon” (the leader is B. Kachmazov), the song and dance group “Leghenda” of the Lugansk Regional Philharmonic Society (the leader is M. Komarova).
The session was concluded with a new song of Ghennadiy and Nikolay Vechorkin and “The Orthodox Don” group “Salute, Victory!”
