The Estate of M.A. Sholokhov Was Visited by the Rostov Region Governor

07.07.2010

On July, 6, the Governor of the Rostov Region V.Y. Golubev visited the Estate of M.A. Sholokhov and put flowers to the tomb of the writer.

The guest was hospitably welcomed by the writer’s son, M.M. Sholokhov, his wife, the head of the Memorial House-Museum of M.A. Sholokhov, V.I. Sholokhova, and the Museum department workers.

On seeing the exposition the Governor made an entry in the Guest Book: “To the Museum workers for a good memory, with the best wishes of success in the work on preserving the heritage of the great Don writer M.A. Sholokhov. 06.07.10. V. Golubev”.

Later, at the meeting with the officials and business leaders of the Sholokhov District, which took place in the “People’s House of the Museum-Reserve, V.Y. Golubev said: “Today I have come to the place I always considered sacred for me… I would like you to remember about the great countryman, whom the district is named after. Mikhail Aleksandrovich Sholokhov is remembered by his descendants not only as a glorifier of the Don Cossacks, but also as a person who tirelessly took care of the people making the native land comfortable. A lot of what we see today is his contribution, desire, active life attitude. And our duty is to cherish everything we have got now”.

According to V.Y. Golubev the Sholokhov District has got a unique opportunity for developing tourism. “It can be grounded on the richness of  the memorials and sights of interest connected with the name of our great countryman, the Nobel Prize laureate Mikhail Aleksandrovich Sholokhov”, - the Governor emphasized and suggested to consider a question about creating the National Natural Park on the land of Vyoshenskaya.
