The Group “Zarnitsa” Got the Diploma of the International Festival

16.08.2010

The folklore group “Zarnitsa” of the Museum-Reserve of M.A. Sholokhov was awarded with the Diploma of the VII International Festival of the Slavonic Culture which was held on August, 5-8, in the town of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, the Krasnodar Region.

The participants were greeted by the festival director, the RF Honoured Worker of Culture Galina Chernousova; the jury chairman, the Honoured  Actor of Russia, Bulgarian singer Biser Kirov; the adviser of the administration of the Russian Federation President, Andrey Rotermel, the leaders of the town and the Krasnodar Region. The opening ceremony and gala-concert were joined by the creative groups from different regions and republics of Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukrain, Byelorussia, Slovakia, Slovenia, the singer Nadezhda Kadysheva and the group “Golden Ring”. Besides, singers Varvara, Nadezhda Babkina and the group “Russian Song” performed at the festival.

The contest program was joined by more than twenty groups including our group “Zarnitsa”. That evening we took part in the gala-concert. The public applauded stormily to the success of the performance. All the members of the group performed the songs with a fine mood and great spirit.

“Zarnitsa” was a success practically on all the stages of the festival: in the gala-concert “A Ripe Apple”, in the Big Friendship Round Dance” at the stadium of the agricultural company “Giant Garden”, on the Theatre square of the town of Slavyansk, in the town park, at the fair of arts and crafts “Russia of Masters”. Everywhere the Kubans and festival guests welcomed the “Zarnitsa” performers with approving cries “Lyubo!”, were delighted with the perky Don Cossack songs. We felt a great interest of the people to the Upper Don folklore, to the old songs of our region, which Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov knew well and loved.

The holiday lasted four days, full of interesting events. Within the festival frames there were held a scientific-practical conference “Traditional Culture of the Slavonic People in the Modern Social and Cultural Environment”, the regional contest “Kuban Sings Ponomarenko”, the children’s festival “Joy”, sport competitions. Besides, all the festival participants were entertained with a pleasure trip to the sea.

It was a bright holiday of peace, friendship, kindness, beautiful songs and dances. It joined all the participants, and when parting we looked forward to meeting next year.
