The Museum of M.A. Sholokhov is Ready to Acquire Drawings by Korolkov

The director of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve A.M. Sholokhov went on business trip to the United States of America on invitation of the Smithson Institute, one of the oldest national scientific-research and cultural institutions of the USA comprising 18 museums and galleries.

During his trip A.M. Sholokhov met with A.S. Korolkov, the son of the Don sculptor and artist Serghey Korolkov. Alexander Sergheyevich preserves with care his father’s works, of which the most part are illustrations for the novels of M.A. Sholokhov “And Quiet Flows the Don” and “Virgin Soil Upturned”. Many times he was suggested to sell the drawings, but he decided to restore his father’s works to the Don country.

In their talk A.M. Sholokhov and A.S. Korolkov came to an agreement on acquisition of the collection by the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.
