The Members of the Expedition “Ratnyi Put” (“Mililary Way”) in the Native Land of Sholokhov

09.07.2010

On July, 9, the  Memorial House-Museum of M.A. Sholokhov was visited by the members of the historical and archaeological expedition “Ratnyi Put” (“Mililary Way”), organized by the Lipetsk Regional Social organization “Military and Historical Club “Spear” and the Home Policy Office of the Lipetsk Region.

The expedition headed by a school teacher from Elets, Pavel Semyonov, involves the members of the military-historical clubs of the Lipetsk, Voronezh, Volgograd, Penza, Moscow regions as well as Byelorussia and Ukrain. The travellers  arrived at Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya by the river Don in two boats named “Svarog” and “Plotva”, which are exact images of the medieval boats. They set out from Elets to Azov and have already covered 775 kms.

The boat expedition follows the rout, by which, as the travellers consider, the Rus troops sailed in the year of 965 headed by the grand Kiev duke Svyatoslav, to fight the enemy of Kiev Rus – the Khazar kaganat. The expedition is a peculiar event reconstruction, that is why the outfit of the travellers, their arms, utensils used by them in the voyage are exactly the same as those of the warriors of the X century.

The members of the expedition made an entry in the Guest Book: “The members of the expedition “Ratnyi Put” of Elets are sincerely grateful to the Museum workers for the hospitable reception and interesting narration about the creative work of Sholokhov. The members of the expedition”.

Then the travellers visited the historical and literary exposition “M.A. Sholokhov. Time and Destiny” and went sightseeing about Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.
