The Time That has Become the History

By the 65th anniversary of the victorious May the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve has prepared an exhibition “The Time of Victories”. It covers a period from 1941 till 1961 and tells about our people who got through the hardest war, gained the victory in the fight against the insidious enemy, reconstructed the economy and were the first in the world to send their representative into space.

The first hall sections of the exhibition are dedicated to the Great Patriotic war. The exhibits tell about the fighting experience of the 197th infantry division which defended the land of Vyoshenskaya, about the partisan movement and a labour exploit of the rear, about reconstruction of the ruined economy, celebrating the Victory and unforgettable Parade on Red Square.

The second hall displays the reconstruction of the local industry and agriculture, equipment of the villages and stanitsas with modern amenities, arranging domestic services, schools, the local newspaper editorial office.

A separate display is devoted to the achievements of science and technology of those years, the legendary space flight of Y.A. Gagarin.

There are exposed original objects of the Great Patriotic war period, those of the post-war everyday life, documents, letters, photographs.

The original hatchway of the spaceship landing apparatus of the space pioneer Yuriy Gagarin  and a model of the first artificial Earth satellite, which were specially brought from the Under Moscow town of Korolyov are available for the visitors.

The exhibition opening ceremony will be held on May, 22, 2010, during the days of celebrating the 105th anniversary of M.A. Sholokhov. The visitors can attend the exposition which will be housed in the excursion – exhibition centre “The People’s House”, till October, 25, 2010.
